We are also proud of the diverse backgrounds and experiences represented across our team. Our team members reflect the communities we serve and bring a wide range of lived and professional perspectives to our work.

A Company Built on Lived Experience

"I saw firsthand how effective early childhood care and learning can make a lifelong difference in children."

~ Chris Strausz - Clark (Founder and CEO)

The idea for 3Si took root long before the company was founded.

Growing up in Minneapolis, I watched my father—a preacher and community organizer—create programs to serve our neighborhood, including a preschool. Seeing the difference that quality early childhood education and care made, especially for children from low-income and vulnerable families, stayed with me throughout my career.

After earning graduate degrees in business and public policy, I worked internationally and later at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Through those experiences, I became convinced that creating opportunities for every person to live a healthy, productive life starts early. Inspired by this direction but wanting to work with on-the-ground efforts in the U.S., I gravitated toward early childhood education and care as a pivotal way to make a difference.

In our early years, 3Si served as a consulting partner to governments, nonprofits, and foundations. Through that work, we observed a persistent challenge: nearly every state valued the idea of an Early Childhood Integrated Data System (ECIDS), but almost no one was happy with their ECIDS. Most of our clients were struggling with systems that were fragmented, difficult to use, expensive to maintain, and unable to deliver the insights they needed.

The more we worked with clients, the clearer it became that they needed something better.

We set out to build a modern platform designed specifically for the unique needs of early childhood agencies and programs. The result is the Child Universal Success Platform (CUSP). Built in partnership with states, philanthropies, and nonprofits, . We’re happy to say that the reality matched our expectations.

We’re now working feverishly to extend CUSP’s design reflects years of real-world experience and lessons learned from across the early childhood sector.

We’ve come a long way since we started this journey in 2013. Today, CUSP is helping states and local governments across the U.S. make data-driven decisions that improve outcomes for children and families. Yet our goal remains the same as it was when we started: to help our partners positively change the lives of as many children and families as possible.
